Environmental Policy

Junction 2010 is partnering with Climate Friendly to take action on climate change by allowing delegates the opportunity to offset emissions associated with their participation in the event by purchasing VCS International renewable energy carbon credits. So far 44 people have accepted the offer with one person offsetting their own carbon and a friend's! We encourage you to select this option at time of registering to ensure the conference is environmentally friendly.

As part of our commitment to be a carbon aware and sustainable event the Junction 2010 team devised a series of ‘Green Principals' to guide and influence all of our decisions categorised under the following values: ethical purchasing/procurement arrangements; reducing carbon footprint/emissions of the event; applying a waste hierarchy - avoid, reduce, reuse, recycle; providing information about our environmental initiatives; documenting their impact; and leaving an environmental legacy in the host community of Launceston and options for forthcoming RAA conferences/events.

As part of these principals Junction 2010 will, where possible, buy from local suppliers, use fresh local produce for catering, ensure paper material is kept at a minimum and is printed on recycled stock, and invest in new technology such as biodegradable corn starch pens.
